Aria Art Gallery was founded by Aria Eghbal in 1992, in Tehran. Since its establishment, the gallery’s main focus has been on painting and introducing artists and exhibiting artworks with a modernist approach.
Aria Gallery has pursued its activities in the field of fine arts with domestic and foreign exhibitions, holding art workshops and promoting contemporary artists. Because of the importance of the modernist wave in Iranian art, the gallery organized a project called “An Overview of Iranian Modern Art ” With this project, the gallery tries to introduce progressive, influential artists in Iranian art scene—who are, of course, unique in their approach and artistic attitude—through exhibitions, publications, interviews, and reviews featuring their artistic process and developments.
Thus far in the project, exhibitions by Sirak Melkonian (Seven Decades of Painting); Bahman Mohasses (60 Pieces of a Lost Object); Behjat Sadr (Trace through the Black) and Garnik Der Hakupian (Presence of the Absent Artist) has been held.
